431956 2006-02-19 00:46:00 I am making progress here; I have Filezilla working & can transfer files from my windows machine to the linux one (Debian Sarge). I have PuTTY working and can do command line stuff on linux from windows. I also have VNC working, but, now my question; it defaults to Gnome (which was default on installation - I have since installed KDE) when I would prefer KDE and the remote desktop is only about 6" square, when I would prefer bigger.
Anyone know how I might solve these two things?

431957 2006-02-19 02:24:00 There is a directory called .vnc which resides under the user you installed vnc under, in my case /root/.vnc This contains a file xstartup which defines various things including which window manager to use. Look at the last line in the file and change it to whatever is required to start kdm (sorry I don't know as I use Gnome). ;) ;) dolby digital (5073)

Trouble is; I found .vnc and it does not have an xstartup file; truly it doesn't.
Just passwd and a whole lot of log files.
