431874 2006-02-18 09:46:00 Recently i've had many new microsoft updates. little ones......ranging from 1 to 6 small changes, once they were done i noticed i suddenly had 28 spyware files. and a trojan dialer virus. Could this be linked to the MS updates? has anyone else had any updates recently? i decided 2 turn off AU untill i know for sure. It's unusual for my computer to get any spyware or viruses. I'm not 100% sure but i think the spyware was MediaGateway and dotnet or something like that. virus was a registry code identified by AVG7.1 as Trojan Horse Dialer.*.E

(note: *=?)

ms updates finish rather quick and sometimes dissapear around 90%

431878 2006-02-18 20:37:00 avg says it was Trojan horse Dialer17.E, im just wondering if its possible it came from another pc in my network jamesyboi (6579)
431879 2006-02-18 20:41:00 And did AVG do anything about it?? Did it remove it? Not much use it telling u, you have something and it cant do anything about it.

I wouldnt be online if I had a trojan.

I would either use trojan remover to see if that picks it up and removes it, or post a HJT log, which may or may not show the entry for it.

431880 2006-02-18 21:43:00 AVG usuall tells you a location of where the virus/trojen is. it may be from an infected web site that you went to. tweak'e (69)
431881 2006-02-18 23:36:00 no it got rid of it, this forum is about the possibility of ms updates being a virus. not if i have the skillz to defeat one. im not n00bified jamesyboi (6579)
431882 2006-02-18 23:50:00 i doubt it..unless you have been tricked or redirected to a fake windows update site. tweak'e (69)
