not even close to that

i know cus my friend has it and he takes ages to download stuff and blames it in the slow connectinn

What plan are you & / or your friend on?

What sort of speeds do you / your friend get? E.g.: do they get 300 KB/s?

432132 2007-08-21 11:01:00 There have been a lot of reccomendations in this thread, but I am only going to say this.

Xnet (WorldxChange)

EXCELLENT pricing. Pay for what you use. Use 5gb per month, pay $5 (on top of the awesome plan pricings). You can cap it too, so you don't overspend.

That is if you use less then 10 GB's a month, if you use more then that there prices are about the same as other ISP’s

Give Xnet a few years & everyone will say Xnet sucks

432133 2007-08-21 19:57:00 People who want cheap broadband will also probably moan that it is slow and has a data cap.

How can we ever get fast bb in NZ if people are not prepared to pay for it. It costs money to lay fibre and the put gear in.

Can someone offer me cheap Sky TV ? Oh and cheap electricity would be good !

432134 2007-08-21 20:26:00 I just want broadband, none of the tolls crap

Then you'll have to go with www.xnet.co.nz.
They are the only ones I know that don't penalise you for not having tolls.

O rly? I've sometimes used more than 10gb and only paid $1 per gig after that.

432136 2007-08-21 23:59:00 The sole reason xNet is fast is because they don't have such a large user base. Once it grows it will be like any other ISP. Also they recently went with Asianetcom for cheap bandwidth which a lot of people are having problems with.

Not all traffic is Asianetcom though.

432137 2007-08-22 00:21:00 The internet needs a rebuild from the ground up, including better support for bittorrent :D Agent_24 (57)

Well if anything my broadband has been faster then.

EDIT: Tho I have been having problems with images on pages loading first try, could this be the reason?

432139 2007-08-22 08:50:00 Check out XNet - they're not in the advertising spotlight like some of the other providers, but excellent service and great prices. Fully self-adjustable usage caps means you can add to your monthly data cap any time if you need another GB or two. Here's the brilliant part: no matter what you set your data cap to, you're only charged for what you actually use...i.e. you have a data cap of 10 GB per month but use only 8GB, you only pay for 8GB. If you go over your cap, XNet will throttle you back to dial-up speed at no extra cost.

Heaps more, such as broadband plus phone deals, but I don't use that.

432140 2007-08-22 09:15:00 Whoever you decide to go with, I would highly recommend you stay away from Slingshot. For a number of reasons, but their customer service (especially) is shocking Myth (110)
