| 432258 | 2006-02-20 20:59:00 | I use PriceSpy a lot to check on the latest prices on hardware. I have also made a number of purchases from different sites/shops listed on PriceSpy and haven't had a bad experience with any of them yet. If possible, I go for a seller who also has a retail shop in my area; that way, I can pick up the item rather than pay for delivery. Last year I built a PC using parts bought wholly from XP Computers in Newmarket, Auckland (they have a shop so I picked up the order). They are middle-of-the-park so far as their prices are concerned (not the cheapest, not the most expensive) but I have no complaints about their service or support (the LCD monitor I bought from them I had to return after a few months because of ghosting problems, but I received a brand new replacement within 2 days). | xmojo1 (4630) | ||

Two in particular are computerdirect.co.nz and C1 Shoppingmall (http://c1com.co.nz/). Computer Direct are great... their after-sales service has been fantastic and they speak proper English. |

| 432260 | 2006-02-20 23:46:00 | ... I'm just used to NY where is just huge buisnesses. It is really reassuring to see there are good small buisnesses in New Zealand. I just wasnt sure whether it would be legit because if that happened in NY it would throw me off ... Don't the huge businesses pay people (badly) to answer the phones 24 hours a day? :) |

If one chooses the good shops in Auckland and then add postage cost etc.. its not worth the bother. www.ascent.co.nz is good too but pp is good for me and they are a bit lesser for many stuff. |

| 432262 | 2006-02-21 05:25:00 | Don't the huge businesses pay people (badly) to answer the phones 24 hours a day? :) Not all the time if it is customer support then yes but I will get to that later. If it is a store definatly not, they have recorded voices but those are useless and even when it is store hours it has the recorded voices. For customer support they pay people in India to do it because it is so cheap even after they pay for an international call. It is terrible because you cannot understand a word they are saying because of the accent, and it was even worse for me becuase coming from NZ im trying to get used to the american way of speaking and then I had to deal with people in India. I'm in wellington so are there any suggestions of stores in Wellington that are decent. |

They allowed you to return a LCD because of ghosting? Wouldnt exactly say ghosting was reason for a replacement? More a technical limitation of the screen. |

Both are free courier . Both allow c/c . But a surcharge applies on PP not sure about Ascent . PP is that the prices online already reflects cash discount . Both will not have stock in store I think . You can go in and chat to them but they courier stuff to your door instead I think . I been with PP for a few yrs now . Last time we got a new CPU box for my bro, onboard video etc . . box only for around $500 . |

| 432266 | 2006-02-21 08:23:00 | I've also bought a camera from the shop in Gore (camera Express) and stuff from C1 Shopping mall and not had a problem with either. | Grimy (3041) | ||

They have factored in postage. They still get it from the suppliers, so whether it gets delivered to their shop or direct to a customer doesn't make any difference if you are local. |
