| 431921 | 2006-02-20 03:01:00 | I would recommend Sony laptops . There is new series of models coming out based on Core Duo . FE-Series VAIO Notebook - VGNFE15GP is one of them which will be retailing $2699 . Yes Toshiba is awesome but if you look at Sony it just exudes Quality of Build and aesthetics is excellent . it does not have the flimsy plastic feel for the keypad which you get on other laptops including Toshiba . See the Press Release below: ================================================== ======= Features FE-Series VAIO Notebook - VGNFE15GP Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology Intel® CoreTM Duo Processor T2300 (1 . 66GHz) Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection Intel® 945PM Express Chipset Microsoft® Windows® XP Pro with SP2 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (upgradeable up to 2GB) 80GB Hard Disk Drive DVD±RW Drive (supporting DVD+R DL disc) 15 . 4˝ Wide (WXGA:1280 x 800) TFT colour display (Clear Bright High Colour LCD: Dual Lamp, Wide View) Built in MOTION EYE Camera NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7400 with NVIDIA® TurboCacheTM Maximum 256MB video memory Integrated Wireless LAN IEEE 802 . 11a/b/g Integrated Bluetooth® FE-Series VAIO Notebook - VGNFE18GP Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology Intel® CoreTM Duo Processor T2400 (1 . 83GHz) Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection Intel® 945PM Express Chipset Microsoft® Windows® XP Pro with SP2 512MB DDR2 SDRAM (upgradeable up to 2GB) 100GB Hard Disk Drive DVD±RW Drive (supporting DVD+R DL disc) 15 . 4˝ Wide (WXGA:1280 x 800) TFT colour display (Clear Bright High Colour LCD: Dual Lamp, Wide View) Built in MOTION EYE Camera NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 7400 with NVIDIA® TurboCacheTM Maximum 256MB video memory Integrated Wireless LAN IEEE 802 . 11a/b/g Integrated Bluetooth® Successor to N/A SRP (inc . | 431922 | 2007-05-14 07:54:00 | Groovy, Centrino is the architecture of the board, can have a pentium M or Celeron M cpu. If you can afford it, the Centrino Duo would be a real smooth quick system! is there anything bad about an intel celeron m, because i am 13 years old and me and my best mate are buying a laptop each and mine is an intel celeron m, is there anything bad about it? |

| 431923 | 2007-05-14 07:59:00 | What , yor read junk mail? Mine goes into the rubbish bin on the path from letter box to door. We just changed our letter box so that we could get the junk mail. I was missing out on the Harvey Norman stuff and the missus likes to check out the supermarket and Briscoes specials. The junk mail used to blow out of our old letter box. |

I would stay away from a Celeron. You should be able to pick up an AMD based laptop for around the same price with the same specs. Look for an AMD Turion or Intel Centrino Duo. Both are dual-core CPUs and will run much better than a Celeron. |

| 431927 | 2007-05-14 13:01:00 | I throw junk mail out onto the street. Bad form of them to put their rubbish on my property. Other then that, Sony Vaio notebooks are way overpriced and infested with crap software. And Celerons of all flavors suck, Unless thats the best you can afford, in which case they rock (but really...they suck) |

Marcus, I guess you do not want to spend megabucks so have a look at the specials on this page (note AMD cpu): http://pbtech.co.nz/ Too bad about Vista, though. If you want WinXP, get along to The Warehouse Stationary or The Warehouse - laptops with 512 RAM for about $900. For those on a tight budget they offer hire purchase. These are fine for general email, wp, etc but of course not for heavy gaming, video encoding. |
