| 432941 | 2006-02-22 09:30:00 | Hi I run Windows 98 and I downloaded an update for windows kb891711.exe. Well I ran into troubles with trying to access my cd-r/rw drive. I ran Dr watson and it said that kb891711.exe had altered my system and was causing problems. So I removed it and ran Dr watson again and everything was hunky dory. Still no results from the cdrom. I then formated the hard drive and reinstalled windows no joy tried this again and still no joy. The drive is used by Nero Burning rom and UDF. Is the cdrom dead and need to be replaced? This is what I think needs doing. The computer is Pentium 2 and was bouhgt in 1998. The cdrom was added in 2001. Any ideas will be appreciated Regards Andy Milne |

After formatting the hard drive and putting Win98 on did you install the drivers for the motherboard? This not for Murray_P |

The device manager shows no problems. when you look at the install it says that everything is okay. When i click on the cd image in my computer it says it is not ready. |
