When I first started working with computers, the main cause of problems was connectors. Software just worked (most of the time). PCs are different ( :( ), but connectors still give problems.
It's a good idea to look at simple things first. |

Kakapo, thought you would be amused to know that just before logging on spent about 20 minutes getting a phone to work, it had been working OK and was disconnected to do some work in the area. On reconnecting it was as dead as a dodo, tried the extension lead and phone elsewhere, worked perfect, tried another extension lead and phone on original box, worked perfect. Looked at original extension and the only thing I found was a minute speck of corrosion on one of the male contacts which did'nt prevent it working on the other box. Much muttering in the beard about this new fangled stuff called electricity. |

Thank you all for your comments. I'll buy some of that contact cleaner too cos it's still happening occasionally. I'll clean everything and then if that doesn't work, I'll find another spot for the computer. Not that THAT will be easy.....something will have to go. |
