432990 2006-02-23 04:24:00 Installing an OS is a pretty good test for memory. Could it be starting-up current of the disks causing the PSU to droop?

He have a SLI board, built to provide good power, a plenty powerful enough psu (is it an SLI psu too?), 1 GT. so I would say plenty of power there.

OP, is it freeze just in game, all anytime?. Memory issue are the common problem with lock ups, or an app running suspect drivers for hardware. I would try with 1 stick for awhile!, or even change them to the other 2 dimm bank.

My mobo prefers 1 dual channel bank over another!

432991 2006-02-23 04:30:00 OMG !, sorry OP, didnt read the post correctly!,,,,'Windows login' lock!

Can you log in under safe mode?, another user?, could be profile based issue.

432992 2006-02-23 04:39:00 I can login, it only takes a couple of restarts, but after running Memtest and reseating the RAM I was able to login first time.

Here (www.maxpoint.com) is the PSU website, it is rated for dual core CPUs and SLI, reason I chose this one :D

432994 2006-02-23 05:09:00 I am currently running a CPU test, CPU burn I think.

There is only one account on there at the moment, I will try another account.

I have had many problems with SP2 that I have decided to stay away from it.

In your previous post you said "OP" what does this stand for?

What sort of problems do you have with SP2?

432996 2006-02-23 05:55:00 Oh I see.

With my old PC once SP 2 was installed the display wouldn't work, reinstall windows and it was all good.

This machine, it likes to disable the internet.

I swapped which slots the RAM is in and it shows the details of one stick but not the other, both sticks register and work, just does not say what slot it is in or the speed and latencys of it, same as before, though it has not frozen :)

Only now it has decided to disable the net :groan:

432997 2006-02-23 07:18:00 In order to read the sticks your have to enable auto in BIOS to 'SPD'. The stick info will then control lacency's timings etc. With DFI mobo, I imagine it is set to manual for OC.

I still think you should install SP2. Any issues, we could look at fixing!

432998 2006-02-23 17:55:00 I willl have a look in the BIOS, though I think I will reinstall windows this weekend to see if that is the problem, because the freezing issue has gone now by the looks of it  The_End_Of_Reality (334)
432999 2006-02-23 19:46:00 kingdragonfly, can you please describe how to change them, like what to go into?

Group policies can be set at various levels in the network, and the local group policy can be ignored.

By the way, there's a lot of great settings you can make with Group Policies, including disabling Messenger from ever loading.

Anyhow
Start... Run... Gpedit.msc
Computer Configuration
Administrative Templates
System
Scripts

"Run logon scripts synchronously" try both settings, disabled then enabled

"Run ... scripts visible" enable all

Group policies will periodically refresh on your machine, but to be safe I always reboot after making a change.
