| 432565 | 2006-02-23 03:00:00 | The bottom dropped out of the second hand computer business when the prices of new parts dropped. You can't make a lot of money selling a secondhand mouse for $10 when the Warehouse will sell a new one for that. :( The few left are mostly like Molten Media, employment training trusts, who don't have to make much profit by selling bits. Computer Broker (www.computerbroker.co.nz) is still in Christchurch ... with some second-hand stuff. Murray seems to have split and rejoined the new and SH sections of the business a few times. |

Your ordinary main street computer shop can't sell off old bits anymore unless they are a licenced second hand dealer. I spoke to the boss in the shop I deal with and that's what she told me. And for them, at least, it wasn't worth the expense and the hoops to jump thru to get one. just FYI :2cents:+ = :D |

| 432570 | 2006-02-24 04:21:00 | Thanks for all the info. Molten didn't have any bigger than 2meg, but I did finally find a company selling new ST-lab 8 and 32 meg PCI cards, so I ordered one of the 32 meg cards. Not too cheap, so I hope it works on my old machine. At least I won't die wondering. Cheers, J |
