| 432765 | 2006-02-22 02:22:00 | Hi out there. Anyone who has had hassles with the installation of the above and has a solution I would love to hear from you. I have just purchased the above. I have had nothing but hassles in installing it; it is not a breeze. I have managed to install and get everything to go but NOT the scanner. An error message comes up " error: an error has occurred with scanning device. Please ensure that scanning device is connected properly and try again". If I have to uninstall and reinstall again for the umpteenth time I will throw a hissy fit. I have never had problems with installation with equipment as bad as this, even with HP products. I have downloaded new drivers - it performed worse. It appears to be with my USB port. My system comprises Win Me, AMD Athlon XP 2500, 512MB RAM, and my USB port is Nvidia USB 2.0 hardware vers 164. I have 2 of those and 2 of 1.1 USB ports. I am wondering if it is my USB ports altho my previous HP 845C ran fine with USB connection just prior. I would love some help. TIA :( | louiezmum (9848) | ||
| 432766 | 2006-02-22 04:09:00 | How did you install it? If you follow the instructions provided it is usually fairly specific about the order in which to proceed. Normally start with it disconnected and install all software then connect it when it tells you. Uninstall the lot and start over. |

| 432767 | 2006-02-22 04:37:00 | Uninstall the lot and start over. LOL, he'll love that.... You said it is an all in 1 device, if the printer works, it stands to reason the scanner will also. So check the setting ON the printer with regards to scanner. Oh, 1st off though, I would check HP's web site.... Why is it no one checks the web sites 1st? h10025.www1.hp.com Check if any of these help 1st, then come back to us! |

| 432768 | 2006-03-06 10:38:00 | I have exactly the same issue. I rang the help desk and was advised to uninstall using the software using the tools on the instalation disk. Open the disk and under folder Util, there is another folder CCC under this folder their are 4 programms.... Uninstall_L1.bat to Uninstall_L4.bat. you will need to un install the orginal instalation using these tools as the standard uninstall does not remove much. Then I was advised to just install the express version, connecting the usb cable when advised to do so by the softaware.... having said all of this none of it helped....I also followed the instructions from the HP web site to remove a setup file from the MSconfig... It also locks up my computer after use....I will have another go at fixing it if I discover the problem I will let you know. |
