Does compressing a NTFS drive/s (40 and 70gig) result in better or worse, or similar performance?

I'd say worse. Once compressed, to re-read it, it needs to decompress it again and presumably recompress again when done. |

You don't get that much extra space when you compress. The only place where it makes a noticeable difference is in torrent and emule temporary files, which have space allocated for them but are relatively empty. |
