433738 2006-02-25 05:36:00 Change the bootdisk in the BIOS to the 250 GB, then reformat/reinstall XP on it. (If the 250 GB isnt the bootable disk / hdd with XP on it now).

I would either slipstream SP1 or 2 on a CD. Or partition the 250 GB in the XP setup screen. Before u reinstall XP again.

Do you know what slipstreaming is? It'll amalgamate / merge XP with either SP1 or 2 . It'll install either SP1 or 2 while its installing XP .

And save u doing it after XP has been installed .

It may also help if you're not going to partition the 250 GB hdd . XP might actually see all of it, if u slipstream SP1 or 2 before u install XP again .

Well, I wouldnt change the drive letter for the 250GB in windows now, if it hasnt got the OS on it .

Otherwise it'll screw things up . Nothing will work on the hdd thats got XP on it now .

It'll be better if you format the 250GB from a clean install, it'll then be C, when XP has been installed on it . Just make sure you change the 250GB to the bootable hdd in the BIOS, and select the 250GB for the XP install .

And if its SATA it'll only be Master . Since SATA's dont use Slaves .

433742 2006-02-25 06:31:00 Hmm ok if you're using the 250 GB as the main hdd now, then u can change the drive letter thru control panel / admin tools / computer management / disk management. Highlight the 250 GB and select change drive letter and paths. Change it to C:

Just as long as the 40GB and 4 GB dont have XP on them now, it should be fine. If you change the 250 GB to C in XP. You'll soon find out.

Info on slipstreaming here (en.wikipedia.org(computing)) another word for it, would be integrating SP1 or SP2, into the XP install. So you dont have to install either later.
