It might even be teatimer, since its always running in the background.

I heartedly recommend leaving TeaTimer alone! It works only when it runs!

433618 2006-02-26 06:32:00 I dont think so. I removed it from startup / disabled it.

Spybot worked fine / still works.

433619 2006-02-26 06:38:00 one of the best parts of SpyBot is TeaTimer..it protects the registry.... SurferJoe46 (51)
433620 2006-02-26 06:41:00 I would have to agree that disabling Tea Timer isn't the best of ideas. It's function is to prevent rogue programs from being installed via registry entries and I only see it when these instances occur.

So I'm still back to square 1... I haven't disabled the entries mentioned yet but will do so when I get home.

cheers

433621 2006-02-26 06:44:00 Yer, so there are other ways / programs that scan the registry for malware etc .

Instead of using Teatimer to do it . It isnt the only program that can scan / remove malware etc from the registry .

433622 2006-02-27 00:35:00 Well it appears that the problem has been sorted... don't know what I've done to be honest. I posted my log file into the HijackThis site and deselected the suggested entries.

Here's what the log file looks like now...

433623 2006-02-27 02:20:00 That's good .

For interest I upgraded Spybot from 1 . 3 to 1 . 4 and had Teatimer activated .

What a pain in the proverbial :annoyed:

Prevents any modifications to registry, prevented me removing an innocuous sound card icon from the system tray, it even prevents itself from being de-activated via msconfig/startup :)

So that was turned off PDQ
