433647 2006-02-25 03:52:00 AM currently doing a assignment that requres some excel imput.
Was entering dates, and it wanted dd/mm/yyyy format, so i adjusted it as best as i could...
and when i entered 23/05/2002, came out great...next line...01/04/2003 and it was automatically adjusted to 04/01/2003?? i was like ***, so changed the settings again coz it was on armenian date format, but it keeps returning to that regardless...it only does it when i enter a 01/04/2003 kind of format, but if its like 23/03/2004 then nothing happens?
Am i doing it wrong? or is tehre some other way to do this? as its really annoying and its stuffing up my spreadsheet as i need the format to be the same right thru all the dates i input...

am using Microsoft Excel that came with Office 2003 :)

Have looked on google for excel advice but cant seem 2 find what could help me

433648 2006-02-25 04:17:00 What regional settings is your OS set to? NZ? (Not sure if this can influence Excel or not)

Also, have you tried formatting the cells as "date" as opposed to "general" data etc?

433649 2006-02-25 04:19:00 its set to NZ, and excel says that no date modifications on excel depend on os unless it has a * next to it, and the settings i had in excel dont have that.

I was using the date apart from general, and it worked good for the first 2, but when i add 02/01/2003 instead of 2/01/2003 (would have normally but have to input as dd/mm/yyyy) then it adjusts to armenian date (thats what i find the settings on when i go and change it back to europen(new zealand) one.

433650 2006-02-25 06:06:00 Very odd. Excel obtains the default date formats from the Windows Regional Settings. Dates are entered into Excel with a forward slash (/) or a hyphen (-), but if your regional settings are other than English you may be able to use other date separators as well like . for Bosnian. Aremenian is not an option in the Regional settings that I can see.

The format of how dates are displayed is determined by the Date format category under Format|Cells. Im presuming you dont have an International version of Excel so you will need to be a bit more specific on where you changed settings including which options selected. Does this occur in a new workbook or only in that file?

433651 2006-02-25 22:15:00 I entered all dates as stated in the book, and noticed some were removing the 0 in front of 1 and stuff like i entered 01/02/2006 and it removed the 0 in front of 1 and 2.. so i highlighted all my cells that have dates in it, and right clicked, clicked format, and then selected the number tab, then catergory is date, then under location, clicked English (New Zealand) and when i went back it had mm/dd/yyyy instead of dd/mm/yyyy so i went back to formatcells, and all that, and found it was on Armenain for location???

the orginal setting it was on b4 i modifiied date to english (nz) was that it was on english(usa)...

433652 2006-02-26 04:31:00 Im beginning to think its a macro. Does this also happen in a new workbook? Parry (5696)
433653 2006-02-26 05:02:00 i thoguht it weas dependant on how u setup the os =/ becuase u have to enter the date time format info ni somehwere on setup or something Codex (3761)
433654 2006-02-26 05:24:00 nah didnt happen in a new workbook, and i dont have any macros set up, so either its a preset hidden one then i dont think it'd be a macro?

I'd copy and paste my work into a new workbook but wouldnt the problem jsut be copy and pasted too?

433655 2006-02-26 18:37:00 The problem may not be moved over if you select paste special - values as the format wont be taken with the value.

To see if theres any code, Right click the sheet and select View Code - there shouldnt be any. Then in the left hand pane (like Win explorer) select any modules - shouldnt be any. If you have recorded macros in the personal.xls file then this will appear in that tree view as well. There shouldnt be any other objects.
