434163 2006-02-27 05:50:00 After too long, I finally got round to clearing out a lot of rubbish, using CCleaner - I cleared out temporary internet files, temp files, and a few other things it found. I also cleaned out the registry, after making backups, of course.

Now my Asus 1608P2 DVD writer won't write anymore. I've tried uninstalling the device through device manager - XP finds and installs drivers, but it still won't write. I SysRestored to the previous night, and still no joy. I'm about to SysRestore to last week[edit - just checked and can't restore any earlier than last night - ccleaner must have got those restore points as well!] , but before I do, does anyone have any ideas about this? I was just about to do a backup...

434165 2006-02-27 07:40:00 I've been using both Ulead MovieFactory and Nero. I uninstalled and reinstalled both, and at first it wouldn't work through NeroVision Express SE, but when I went through Nero SmartStart and specifically selected DVD Data it worked.

However, I'm still stunned that XP can't burn direct to DVD. I could have sworn I'd done it in the past - is there some way to enable this?

434166 2006-02-27 07:53:00 Nope XP AFAIK has never supported burning to DVD. Only to CD's.

There is no way to enable it to burn to DVD.

I would use Nerovision not Nerovision SE. SE maybe missing things Nerovision uses. Nerovision also has Nerovision Express, which lets you select different options (doing VCD's/DVD's etc).

The only thing with burning with Nerovision as well, is some options need a serial, or a plugin to enable the option.
