| 433994 | 2006-02-26 07:41:00 | Hi Have just installed Winmedic. Great program except for the secure delete program which hangs when I try to access the "add files" section of the secure delete function. I get the message "buffer overrun detected! The program is corrupted and must close" etc etc. I have reinstalled. restored, cleaned registry with 3 diferent products and still the same problem. Only thought is that a similar program exists in Tuneup Utilities 2004 which I also have installed and perhaps this is causing a confliect? Can anyone please help? TIA Ron |

| 433995 | 2006-02-27 05:14:00 | Buffer overrun or overflow message means that the information that was given (sounds like it was created using VB), went outside the specified limits. E.g. To explain it, say I have a 1.44MB Floppy Disk and I tried copying 2MB to it, I'd get the capacity is too small and it will not copy. A buffer works similar except you could copy more that what you've allocated, so if I had a 1.44MB buffer and copied 2MB I'd be allowed to do so, but I could be overwriting something else in memory. Buffer overruns or overflows is the biggest problem with software security, in which sometimes in fixing these problems more problems get created like your program being forced to close. This could be an OS interception, or how the program actually acts. I'd take the problem up with the creator of the software as it'd be hard to debug the problem yourself. Cheers, KK |
