433858 2006-02-26 04:05:00 DVD Shrink was outlawed? since when? DVD Decrypter ran into some controvesies with Macrovision (ones who create the Macrovision protection) in which DVD Decrypter is now illegal to distribute, yet you can still find it around. ImgBurn is the result of DVD Decrypter now without the protection removal and zoning removal. DVD Shrink allows you to remove things that are not neccessary like foreign subtitles, etc.

NZ's laws still allow us to make a single backup copy of our media I believe, so that the original can survive. As long as it's only for this reason, we should not be slapping people's wrists (although we know what people really do).

I've made plenty of backups of my nephew's DVDs since he enjoys scratching them and leaving his fingermarks all over the disc, so it's safer and less costly this way for me to back them up and let him use the backups, than continuing to buy the exact DVD till he leaves that phase.

Cheers,

KK

433859 2006-02-26 04:13:00 NZ law has never allowed the creation of any backups, unless stated on the media.

And both Dvd Shrink and DVD Decrypter were hit with legal action and shutdown, try and find the offical page for either, And due to this all sites that host it and follow the rules have removed both...
