433920 2006-03-08 10:48:00 drivers from motherboard maker (in particular install the SiS AGP driver) are here (www.msi.com.tw)

I'd tend just to grab the actual video drivers from nvidia (http://nvidia.com)

You want to consider installing Service Pack 2 for XP too.

What about when one creates a slipstreamed cd? Apparently that's not discouraged by microsoft.

Ive done what you said and so far no problems on the two. Although I also tried to install the sis 7012 pci audio driver without success. It got as far as:
setup audio - loading window xp setup utility
error - update driver for plug and play devices - 536870397
failed to install audio driver window xp
setup will exit.

I had this one sent to local disk F - space required 8567k
Space available on F - 93544k

What is on this partition? This looks like a problem area to me with so little free space, and you are reporting in your latest post that there is even less space now! You should be doing something about backing it up and clearing some room then deleting what you don't need. This should be a storage area you should not be splitting up your o/s onto separate partitions on the same HDD, the only advantage to be gained is to put your sysfiles and temp internet caches onto a SEPARATE HDD to help with fragmentation and a small increase in speed. (Put simply) Actually your sysfile on a different partition on the same HDD will help with fragmentation but will slow you down a bit.

433924 2006-03-12 00:45:00 I wasn't happy with local disk F so, I had it deleted and installed xp all over again without having to create another partition. I'm still learning you kno :o
Now that everything is back to normal (so I hope) I'm still having issues installing audio adapter sis 7012 device. In device manager i have a yellow question mark on multimedia audio controller. The drivers for this is not installed code28. Is it possible that maybe the downloaded file is corrupt?
Im stumped like usual

433925 2006-03-13 06:14:00 I've uninstalled multimedia audio controller and installed realtek AC '97 audio. I now have sound :p and everything is running as good as new!
Thanks to all who pitched in, I appreciate it

And now I can carry on with some serious online gaming.. :nerd:
