| 434345 | 2006-02-28 04:13:00 | Thanks for the replies everyone. I had a go with LtnRPC and it seems to turn off the counter and there are up to 4 user and 4 vendor resets available. I think Imation must be a re-branded Lite-On drive (or vice versa?) I will also experiment with a couple of different players (as suggested) and DVD Genie so I don't have to keep on changing the region. Thanks again! Andrew |

Andrew I have used and recommended LtnRPC in a post (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) I read a while back for rebadged Liteon drives. Give us the make and model and see if its a rebadged Liteon by taking a look at The Firmware Page (forum.rpc1.org) Edit: Ahh it is a rebranded OEM liteon drive (forum.rpc1.org) |

| 434348 | 2006-02-28 07:31:00 | Hi Andrew You seem to be suited now which is great. However I will mention one thing which may help other people doing something similar and that is to check with the retailer you bought it from. We bought a Samsung from Noel Leeming and when we mentioned about wanting to use the player to play stuff from USA and Europe they gave us the phone number of the Samsung importer. A quick call to them and they told us the way to make the player play DVD's from any region, and all free. No problemo. Sometimes the simplest thing is really simple !! Misty  |

| 434349 | 2006-02-28 11:35:00 | Hi Having recently bought and installed a DVD R/W drive to accomodate the PC World DVD, I've been playing around with various overseas DVDs. I've used the DVD player for a few NZ, Australian and English DVDs. I'm not up with the play regarding zones but a couple of times I have had to change my DVD zone to play a DVD and there is a counter that is counting down the number of times I have left for changing the DVD zone. Is there any way to reset this counter? Or is there a way around this? I'm using an Imation rewritable dual layer +/- drive. I'm not into piracy or anything like that but I'm anxious about being kneecapped if I keep playing UK and NZ DVDs on my PC. Cheers, Andrew Download DVDX player. This plays all regions so no need to keep changing regions |
