FDISK /MBR should have fixed it. The partition table isn't affected by "boot sector" operations, so it should be intact. However what might have happened is that XP could have changed the active partition. So you might have put the W98 boot on the second partition's boot sector with FDISK, rather than the first partition. That probably wouldn't be helpful.
Try FDISK /STATUS .IF that's what has happened, FDISK should be able to change the active partition back. Then FDISK /MBR should work. |
