435191 2006-03-03 07:49:00 Ok, i got a new motherboard and box i used to have a 552GE Gateway computer.. fried the motherboard so i took everything in that box and put it on my new motherboard.. the new mother board works fine.. it detects the hard drive ram and dvd-rw/cd-rom drives i have no floppys. (obsoleat) when i pluged everything in and pluged the hard drive to SATA 1 (Primary) and loaded i got a error saying "Failed to Load Operating System" so i played around with my bios settings and even tryed other sata connectors. finally i got to the point to where i just said f*k it so i reformated my hard drive using the Gateway Restore DVD it formatted fine when it finished it told me to remove the DVD and press the enter button to reboot to windows so i did. after it did all its checks it still gave me the Error "Failed TO load Operating System" so right now im stumped.. maby some of you more experianced techs can :help: me? 435192 2006-03-03 07:58:00 So, if the sata is on the sata 1 header on the mobo, is it set to boot from the sata, and is 3rd or 4th primary master in the BIOS on AUTO??

Its either that, or the power going to the sata may not be in properly. The cables for satas are pretty flimsy!

435193 2006-03-03 08:07:00 everything seems to be conected just fine and in the BIOS it is set to AUTO for all SATA and IDE and it picks up that the primary boot disk is my harddrive in my prepherals DemonicOverlord (9903)
435194 2006-03-03 08:13:00 What operating system are you running (or not running, as the case may be)

Oops sorry didn't see the signature

435195 2006-03-03 08:19:00 Im thinking that the new motherboard has a different sata controller to the old one that got fried, therefore you probably don't have the drivers for it - and windows xp will kick up hell if you try to boot it off a sata harddrive that doesn't have drivers for the controller (or the wrong ones)

re-installing with the restore disk didn't work either because it also only had the drivers for the old motherboard.

435196 2006-03-03 08:24:00 any suggestions? DemonicOverlord (9903)
435197 2006-03-03 08:30:00 Is the mobo Intel as well?

As it looks like Albatron make this mobo too .

It shouldnt need drivers, since you managed to install XP on it, and XP is on it now .

The only other thing I can think of is the boot order in the BIOS .

If u changed the cd back to the hdd as the bootdisk, (or if u didnt change it), whats the 2nd/3rd boot option in the BIOS on?

435198 2006-03-03 08:34:00 HDD is the primary Boot.. 2nd is CD ROM(DVD-RW and CD-ROM) and 3rd is Disabled and yes the Mother board is Intel.. its the best 915 Board you can buy now.. the last board that supports regular DDR the new ones only support DDR2 >.< DemonicOverlord (9903)
435199 2006-03-03 08:51:00 Go into the bios, disable any RAID features listed in there. Metla (12)
