| 434604 | 2006-02-28 21:13:00 | You might scoff at the suggestion :groan: , but do you have Word available somewhere and see if you can fix it in there and then go back to OOo and see if its fixed. Of course you may have found a bug :yuck: |

| 434605 | 2006-02-28 21:17:00 | I presume you also prefer to drive an old Skoda or Trabant on the job to complete the image your clients now perceive? Skoda has a new image now (based on VW if think) . |

Of course you may have found a bug :yuck: DD, I've not bothered to reinstall Word, I genuinly believe OOo better suites my needs . However, the original format for the table came from a Word (report) template, supplied by others, which contains several tables, the one shown, being the least complex . On moving from OOo 1 . 1 . 5 I to 2 . 0 . 1 I decided to make a brand new template by following the basic layout of the Word doc but not converting it or C&Ping content such as tables, being wary of minor formatting issues arising from conversion as per previous experience . The problem arose in the first live use of the template, so it shouldn't be an unexpected teething problem . I have sent OOo . org feedback, but now that I have sorted it, may make further suggestions re usability (menu layout, context, etc), not that I'm a particulalry competent user or anything . |

I use both OOo and Office. Some of my customers "force" me to use various components of Office. As you in the Wgtn area, see if you can spot my car - its got an OpenOffice.org sticker on the back. I have never seen one before as it was done by a signwriter friend. ;) |

| 434608 | 2006-03-01 09:23:00 | BTW . I don't often need to collaborate with other people, when I have it's been fine to work in the . doc as a . doc withing OOo . Most docs I send out, i . e . , just about all I produce, I prints, have printed or send as PDF's . I wonder what happened to Mets and Goddie, get banned again did they  |

And my apologies for suggesting you also drive an old Skoda or Trabant, now I realise it's more likely an early Lada, held together with pieces of string (or yellow tape). I am considering taking up a collection to buy you some proper software, but have you considered that at your (exhorbitant?) hourly rate you have now wasted more time than it would have cost to buy a new copy of MS Office? (and a new Lada as well probably) |

I should probably bite my tongue . . . Murray P is probably trying to bite his :annoyed: Of course no one has ever posted a problem with MS Word here . Its just a perfect piece of software . Of course it should be by now after how many millions have been spent developing it . Maybe Steve Ballmer will read this and offer to give Murray a free copy of Word and then he can preach MS too . |

| 434611 | 2006-03-02 02:43:00 | This is not a fault in Open Office . Or if it is, it will be a fault in MS Office, too . Unfortunately, you will always have to read the instructions . Or at the least, explore every menu and toolbar . Tough . If you have 9678 options in 293 toolbars, it's never going to be easy . ;) |

| 434612 | 2006-03-02 06:04:00 | GL is right, as alluded to, up thread, it was definitely a user unfamiliarity issue, where said user could have used the time reading. Yep, coulda bought a copy of Office, though logic rarely comes into these things, I probably would have had more fun dissing MS than OOo. Anyway, please Goddie, carry on with the collection if it tweaks your philanthropic nerve  |

| 434613 | 2006-03-02 06:15:00 | Open Office is a solid product, I have made many custom templates and documents for people and the results have always been excellent, Most of them being more straight foward to make then if I had used Office. Havent had much of a mess around with OO2 yet though.... |
