435593 2006-03-05 07:32:00 Hmmm, take all the free options and use the money saved to buy some RAM....

For Anti-Spyware the free list is:

MS Defender (okay I install this only on "problem users")
Spybot
Adaware Personal
Spywareblaster
Hijackthis
RootkitRevealer (okay more than just spyware)
Firefox :D

Could to see you don't want Nortons...

P.S. Made a new thread because it has to suit my slow computer config :D!

435597 2006-03-08 03:36:00 Why would you want to invest in a paid anti-virus? With the slow system you have got you would be better off saving those subscriptions, throwing the money saved to beef up your system to something better and then install the free programs from advice already given.

All the free programs already mentioned will be more than adequate, unless you intend doing something or going somewhere and expecting to have your computer heavily infected with nasties.
