435495 2006-03-05 06:19:00 Yes I know about the whole piracy world wide thing but it is treated different in all countries. In the US thousands got law suits but I bet in Zimbabwe no one has been sued as of yet. kiwimate27 (9833)
435496 2006-03-05 06:49:00 They are looking at Niger for that sort of thing,so far not much luck.
Only 12 computers.

That might change in France soon.

435498 2006-03-06 00:30:00 If they want a token bust in NZ, all they have to do is go onto TradeMe & look at all of the DVDs that (in broken English) "only play on computer".

435499 2006-03-06 00:56:00 Theft is illegal worldwide.Yeah.. but as much as music/movie companies would love you to believe that downloading copy written material is theft it's not.. it is copy write infringement. Not that that makes it legal. However a last I heard even encoding MP3s from CDs you own was technically illegal in NZ.

As far as I know the only people who have been busted are people making money from copying stuff.

Or DVD movies that don't come with covers and the games that don't come with cases or manuals....

435501 2006-03-06 02:37:00 I think Torrent sites are a more likely target for various anti-piracy organisations, like the MPAA. kingdragonfly (309)
435502 2006-03-06 03:21:00 Plus I heard from somewhere that they were being monitored. Can't remember the source....you'd be better off getting an invite to a private hub andrew93 (249)
435503 2006-03-06 10:26:00 Any remember hearing about New Zealand's DC++ hub (i think it was SilverServer) got political attention?? But once again (like all DC++ hubs) they justified it by saying that it was a Chat Room and the files shared in that room were not the mod's fault.

And on that note, are Xtra still controling P2P sharing (and does this include Torrents)??
