436447 2006-03-07 22:25:00 Are you sure you're not seeing compression artifacts (blockiness).

VCD will usually show a few artifacts, in particular if you're trying a fit a long video onto it.

436449 2006-03-08 23:59:00 A moire effect is created when two sets of parallel lines or two halftone screens are superimposed at an acute angle.

I've never noticed a moire effect on any video source I've watched, but I'm not usually looking that close either.

Compression artifacts are very common, though.

436450 2006-03-09 16:28:00 Hi, I bought 2 x VCD's a few years ago. I never heard of them at the time and saw them in Singapore airport on my way home and took a punt on them. While they are OK they are certainly not up to the quality of DVD so Im afraid its probably the nature of them rather than your TV or DVD settings.

Go to www.videohelp.com you will see a paragraph ....
"The quality of a very good VCD is about the same as a VHS tape based movie but VCD is usually a bit more blurry. If you want better quality checkout SVCD,CVD or DVD."
