436120 2006-03-06 22:57:00 Hi all,

I'm doing some research for a short piece in PC World on webhosting. I'm interested to hear from those of you who are hosting websites what webhosting providers you use, and how good you find their services.

I'd be keen to hear how you rate them in terms of

- Price
- Speed
- Reliablity/Support
- Functionality (what you can do with the hosting, space provided etc)

If you'd like to give me some feedback, feel free to post a response to this post, listing:

Hosting Provider
Price Rating (1 to 5 with 5=Best):
Speed Rating (1 to 5 with 5=Best):
Reliability Rating (1 to 5 with 5=Best):
Functionality Rating (1 to 5 with 5=Best):
And if you are so inclined - what site(s) you host with them.

Thanks all, and I look forward to reading the responses!

436122 2006-03-06 23:15:00 I'm doing some research for a short piece in PC World on webhosting. Is this guy legit? Why would anyone want to impart potentialy business sensitive information to him anyway?

And why would anyone want their competitors to become more aware of what they're doing?

Go back to school marke and learn some basic survey skills.

And if you are so inclined - what site(s) you host with them. My family's webspace.

Openhost offers a range of different packages (diskspace, bandwidth, servers, windows/unix, etc.) for a range of prices... NZ company with NZ based servers. They answer emails/support questions/whatever promptly, and clearly, every time. And I recommend them to everyone regularly :)

One of the main reasons for choosing them was because they are local. Both servers and admin.

436127 2006-03-07 00:21:00 Hosting Provider My Host http://www.myhost.co.nz

Price Rating (1 to 5 with 5=Best): 5 (for NZ based hosts, far cheaper ones overseas if you want to host there, but I wanted a local provider, I suspect bandwidth and other costs are cheaper overseas )

Speed Rating (1 to 5 with 5=Best): 5 (I have had no issues with speed, or uptime, it runs and runs well)

Reliability Rating (1 to 5 with 5=Best): 5

Functionality Rating (1 to 5 with 5=Best): 5 (great helpdesk, uses CP Panel with heaps of addon programs with one click install, and good stats packages, excellent help within a few hours, there is a real 'personal' aspect to their service that prevents me from going overseas.)

And if you are so inclined - what site(s) you host with them. stuffucanuse.com

The only reason I can imagine leaving them is if my site outgrows their packages offered. I have been offered cheaper hosting but money alone doesn't suffice to move when you need help and service. I have used them for other websites I have set up for people as well. They are great for new sites.

Awesome behind the scenes functionality with 1 on 1 support on the few occasions when required. The equipment is physically housed inside the server room of one of the major ISP's. A one stop shop with great advice and service with zero downtime.
