| 435893 | 2006-03-06 04:00:00 | I have a Celeron 2.2, which I want to take out of my old motherboard and put into my new motherboard. Do I need to apply thermal paste? Or will whatever was on there before be enough? Mike. |

| 435894 | 2006-03-06 04:41:00 | you will need to clean the cpu & base of the heatsink & apply new thermal paste | Greven (91) | ||
| 435895 | 2006-03-07 01:14:00 | Celerons don't generate much heat, but a fresh bit of thermal paste is pretty much required. Artic Silver is considered very good. Be careful when removing the CPU fan. Some thermal paste will "gum up" over time, and you can force a CPU out of the socket prematurely. |

And I suppose I'll also need to buy something to clean the fan and CPU with too? :) Mike. |

Or you could get fancy & buy one of those artic silver kits with their special cleaning stuff. |

| 435899 | 2006-03-07 01:48:00 | I just use the corner of a plastic credit card sized card for my cleaning apparatus with Isopropyll Alcy. If the CPU has no exposed traces, I might use my fingernail if nesscary. |
