436140 2006-03-07 08:17:00 Like an earlier poster, I used to host my own site too, but 128k upload (which means 128k download for users) didn't cut the mustard.

Now I am with http://www.rimuhosting.com

They give you a virtual server - can host whatever you like with them in your 4Gb of space. And although they are a NZ company, the server is in Texas and very fast. You can totally custom manage DNS, websites, scripting, databases, email, ssh, root access; actually anything you can think of. I've used many web hosts before, wish I'd found these guys sooner!

436143 2006-03-08 07:06:00 This isn't going to work then - everyone loves their own hosting crowd...
Ummm... isn't that the whole point of "research" which is what marke is doing?
For me, kiwiweb and gogo

436144 2006-03-08 07:24:00 Only one I've used so far in NZ is Openhost, using them to run a gameserver. Haven't set it up yet, will get back to you on that.

If you don't mind latency, there's a good idea to go overseas. For example - my hosting account has 100GB of data transfer in the 'states, and I'm getting that for NZ15$ a month.

Sure, they're probably overselling slightly, but heck :) I can use 100GB, and the email support is quick and good.

436145 2006-03-11 09:00:00 I've used a range of different webhosts for my clients websites since 2000, including some of the ones others have listed here. The one I have found to be the best for my clients needs, has been Super Host at www.superhost.co.nz. I have been using them now for a couple of years, and would rate them with all 5 out of 5's. The two things I look for when shoosing a webhost for my clients websites is server reliability and hosting on NZ based servers. I also host some of my clients sites with Orcon, which is also good, but doesn't have the same features and control panel as Super Host. rogerp (6864)

Support: 2

This is a US based webhoster and I have a 5Gb websize plan with them, and 100Gb traffic. In 2 years I have had no outages and 100% uptime (to my knowledge). Great for large sites. However you need to be independant and know what you are doing as online support is bad. To host this in NZ was $$$$ beyond belief.
