| 436170 | 2006-03-07 21:59:00 | OK...I tried it and now I lost Explorer...and the system just freezes on the error message and I have to kill the power...gads! Well...looks like another fdisk and reinstall....again......! :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: It's unusual to install networking options, and cause severe crashing in Windows. What's the error message? |

| 436171 | 2006-03-13 21:01:00 | Sorry to bump this..but I just gotta tell what happened for future generations I got 98SE all cleaned up and running good, shut down and added the NIC of my choice from the box of them I have, a Linksys Etherfast PCI adapter for a LNE100TX card, ....hooked it to a CAT5e and then to the Router (a Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router BEFSR41), turned the puter on, inserted the CD-rom for the NIC and it worked...it was just about as easy as an XP network setup...All I hada do was insert the 98SE install disc and type in the correct path for the drivers on the disc and it ran itself and installed everything...finding the path was the hardest part...... Thanks guys! PS: do you suppose it was so easy because the NIC and the Router are the same brand? Hmmmmm? |
