And why would anyone want their competitors to become more aware of what they're doing?

Go back to school marke and learn some basic survey skills.

Sorry - didn't mean to alarm anyone. The "oldies" know me .... but it has been a while since I was particularly active in here.

Yes - I was one of the team at IDG ... I'm now a freelancer of sorts, and write articles periodically for PC World, Computerworld etc. We're doing a short piece on webhosting in May (I think) and I wanted to get a quick sense of what services people are using, and how happy (or otherwise) they are with them. When we publish the article, I'll link to this thread, so that people can read the opinions.

So it wasn't a formal survey .. although we've done loads of those in the past! ;-)

And if it's commercially sensitive ... then don't respond. I'm only wanting feedback from people who are happy to provide it .. that's kind of the way this forum works mostly.

Point taken though - I should have introduced myself more carefully! ;-)

Any actually Stu - I'm actually quite interested to compare onshore V offshore hosting services. Since there are SO MANY US-based ones!

I'm intending on comparing a couple of local ones, and a couple of O/S ones .. to get some kind of rudimentary comparison for pricing, performance, functionality etc. I have already signed up with one overseas one .. and will try another. And a couple of the local boys have also kindly come to the party with demo accounts.

Could you let me know what edition of the PC World mag this will be in? (as I will be interested in reading it & I don’t buy the pcword mag all the time)

Since I don’t know if marke just wants just NZ Web Host Company’s? Or any Web Host Company? I will post a wee bit about the only NZ Hosting Provider that I have used with my boss….

I believe it's the May issue - but I'm not 100%. And it's only going to be a fairly small piece ... a 1 page sidebar to another article I believe.

i get every function i want including root access :-)
support is a bit slack
price is free which is good.

over all i think it rocks :-)

What I host: A gaming orientated website (forums and information about shelf sold games)

Game Warrior used to be free, but due to people abusing it by makign free accounts that did things to overload the servers they had to start charging, however they have a HUGE range of hosting options, from 100mb storage 500mb monthly bandwidth on the UltraLite plan, up to 10000mb storage and 50000mb monthly bandwidth for the Gold Reseller plan.
