| 436422 | 2006-03-07 18:46:00 | It was done in frontpage - Microsoft FrontPage 5.0 1) The background is heinous the colour contrast light to dark is too pronounced so it makes the text difficult to read, if you want to keep something like that you would need to fade it out a lot 2)The "School Promotion" Link doesn't work for me in IE or firefox (firefox brinks up a microsoft error page) 3) The image on your first page is not optimised - what that means is that it is still the full sized image just the that the users browser is resizing it, try right clicking on the image and save it to your desktop, when you open it you will find it is desktop sized, you need to fix that as that is wasted bandwidth and slower loading times 4) The buttons look really wrong, especially as they go into two rows, unless they are your school colours change them to more symmetrical shapes and better colours Thats all i can tell from a quick glance. but i am sure others will let you know their opinions, Cheers |

You need much more text on your index page, who you are, what you do. Thats for the search engines to feed on to index your site. Sorry ... but this www.stpeterchanel.school.nz is not good. font far to big, background makes it hard to read, font style face="Comic Sans MS" is aweful for important information. really the site needs a lot of work... (ideally to make is as different to what it is now as possible) :) Let me know if you want a hand, I may have someone who could build it for you for free. Frontpage is OK for making webpages, but their themes are aweful.... Initially you need to find a site that you would like yours to be like, and use that as a base. | 436424 | 2006-03-07 21:55:00 | Freekin' awful and having a 450Kb image on the first page is not good I'm on 50x dialup and it took like 5secs to load (hate to be on dialup) It looks like something slapped together in Word for school homework, or even worse FrontPage! Tone down teh background, Fix the picture, adjust the font, Otherwise its uh . . . . . yeah, useable . Buttons, general layout and info look fine to me (presuming its some form of project) Most of those that will pass comment are highly skilled at what they do and aren't school age children . I'm pretty sure near every page that has been posted here for comment has been ripped apart in every conceivable way . |

Anyway, most of the so-called professional "website engineers/designers" produce rubbish . And they always have fast links, so they don't know about slow loading pages . Shoot the background, John . You don't say whose web site it is . Not on the home page, not on the pages brought up by the buttons . Not even on the "Contact Us" page . You know whose site it is . No-one else don't, except from the URL . Most people don't look at that . |
