436502 2006-03-07 23:32:00 I am intending to sell a comp soon (check TradeF1 later)
This computer currently has Win 98 on it but it has no Licence Key anywhere on the case (desktop computer). Can I sell it with a Win OS installed? (The OS on it is fully legal and I have the sticker for it with the 98 booklet, just dont want to sell the disc with the comp)
I suspect the answer is no, but am just checking

436503 2006-03-07 23:41:00 Download Xandros Linux and use that. Same functionality and legal. bob_doe_nz (92)

436505 2006-03-07 23:42:00 Yes.

Only drawback is that you won't be lawfully entitled to use the disk to install Windows on another system.

436506 2006-03-08 04:05:00 You planning on selling the PC with its COA and product key number, or with nothing? You have to provide the COA/product key at least to go with the system, otherwise technically the new owner does not have a licence for that OS. I presume you want to keep the COA/product key to use again for yourself?

I've noticed many people will ask if the installation CD and product key are included with the sale on Trademe. It will increase its value if both are provided as the new owner can reinstall the OS if/when required.

Guess I will just have to see what sort of interest I get in it and make a decision based on that
