437030 2006-03-19 22:41:00 If I get time today, I will throw Xandros on the other machine and tell you how I got on (I just hope it picks up my network card without too many issues).. should do Myth (110)
437031 2006-03-19 23:47:00 Tazz,
Thanks for your efforts on my behalf.

I have included a printout of the "traceroute" to forums.xandros.com. Interesting to note that, although I can access the forums with Knoppix, a traceroute from there sticks on the same line. Dunno.

I wonder if this gives anybody any clues as to what is happening. No. 19 is clearly within xandros' own system. No. 20 is the address for support.xandros.com (which is the same site as forums .....)

Cheers,

Jim

437032 2006-03-20 03:48:00 Ok, installed Xandros (OCE older version) on spare machine. Unfortunately it had issues with my older network card, so I had to bring my old external Dynalink dialup modem back into service. Got it connected to the net, and was able to get to http://forums.xandros.net no problems Myth (110)
437033 2006-03-20 05:43:00 You may have a problem in one of your machine's TCP settings. TTL must be set to 20. :D That path is longer, so your packets aren't getting to the site. TTL is decremented at each router the packet goes through. When it hits zero, it's all over for that packet. It looks as if you are nearly getting there. But close isn't good enough. Graham L (2)
437034 2006-04-11 10:55:00 :) Thanks to all who had a look at this thread. The problem persisted inside the Xandros system right through until Monday of last week (Canadian time) at which time someone from Xandros's own ISP visited their site and did some work on the servers. No problems now at all.

Again, thanks to Jen, Tazz, GrahamL and any others that I have overlooked for your helpful comments.

437037 2007-01-29 04:14:00 darlyn,

I think we have "spoken" before on Xandros forum (username there is jimwilk)

Have a look at this link if you are trying to install scribus into Xandros:

forums.xandros.com

I don't know that package as I use Open Office 2.04 in all three of my versions of Xandros.
