You make it sound like having a credit card is just a matter of filling out a form. It isn't, I have a AA+ credit rating, but do not qualify for any credit card because the invalids benifit is less than the required minimum income. Several years ago that was $22,500. I can afford to make some online purchases, but am barred from doing so for that reason. Now about PayPal  I have been trying on and off for the last two weeks to use PayPal without a credit Card: They say that it can be done and I have been all over their website to find out how. The PayPal website is like a jig saw puzzle, you have to pickup the pieces you think might be relevant to you from this page and that page and the other page; collect them together and assemble a picture before you can find out what you need to know. At long last I can tell you what I have just discovered tonight. You can NOT use PayPal in NZ without a credit card! I followed all their instructions on how to setup a NZ bank acc. but when I tried to use it I get asked for a credit card no. I emailed them and they replyed that from the account history they could see that the issue had been resolved; It hadn't. Then they had the nerve to say that I should phone them (in the USA) to sort out the issue! Now I find that New Zealand is not one of the countries that PayPal has bank transactions with, unless you have a credit card, even though they say you can. :angry |

It isn't, I have a AA+ credit rating, but do not qualify Then there are people like my son. As a university student working only part time a few hours a week, he not only qualified for a VISA card but the dimwits at BNZ increased the maximum to $4,000 when he went on a drinking binge in Thailand. Any guesses on if he was able to pay off his card, especially considering he had to quit his job due to study committments? :groan: |

| 436680 | 2006-06-18 03:57:00 | I used paypal for almost a year now No problems .As im a student I get a credit card visa from national bank and the limit was $500 and was raised up to $1000 limit. I dont like national bank. The transactions are really slow.usually takes 3 to 4 days before the transaction appears online So i just joined ASB.I will get rid of national bank at the end of the year .I haven't closed it because my student allowance and it would be a hassle to change. Anyway.Paypal is safe.I find their online help very annoying.Doesn't give perfect answers.Bits and pieces are everywhere. haven't had any problems with ebay. Most traders I trade with were safe but I just bought a new bluetooth handsfree had problems now solved now but the seller never replied.I guess there's alot of people that like money only.Once money comes to hand they just ignore u. Do u find that the same on trademe? There's so many dishonest traders nowadays |

| 436684 | 2006-06-18 08:46:00 | The number is on your cheque book on the bottom of each slip . If you do not have a chq book then its on your statement when you get in the mail . This is the same number you give to your company when you do a auto debit or to your employer when you are paid, likewise to student loans or student allowance . For example BNZ it begins with 02 - . ANZ begins with 01 In your format: AB-CDEF-GHIJKLM-NOP This maybe ANZ of, 01-1024-1024102-00 For the last number many accounts only have 2 number but some have 3 numbers . In my above example I only put 2 numbers becos of that reason . Check the cost before you do it . . I only use credit cards I would presume way you thinking of may cost more . |
