Official Information Act (OIA) documents obtained by Campbell Live today reveal the Pike River Mine has been safe to enter for nearly a year now, so why the delay to finally enter the mine and try to bring home the lost 29 miners?
Campbell Live reporter Dan Parker was tonight live in Greymouth. He described how he tried five different OIA requests to retrieve these documents. Eventually their request was accepted with WorkSafe New Zealand.
"What this request tells us is that the advice that Solid Energy was given by WorkSafe and Mines Rescue, and what they told them, was that the plan to re-enter the Pike River drift, the tunnel that leads to the mine, was technically feasible," says Mr Parker.
The document goes on to say that there are no technical or safety barriers standing in the way. The worst part of this information is that Solid Energy was given this information almost a year ago.

It's a cover-up because entering the mine would disclose that Miners could have been saved if the Mines Rescue Team hadn't been forbidden to enter the mine by the police.

1387737 2014-11-06 00:04:00 SE's board, like similar paragons of failure, have a tendency to judge the abilities of others by their own levels of competence.
They strive mightily to avoid doing anything at all, an attitude thoroughly justified by their own efforts in the past.
