1387104 2014-10-30 04:21:00 And by what method?

I know they're big - but so is the iPhone 6+ and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4...

I know they're just a Moto X on steroids (with a better camera and battery)...

I know they are more expensive than recent Nexus edition phones...

The one thing I do know is that I will not be getting the Nexus 9 - wrong aspect ratio and won't fix in my jeans (back) pocket...

1387107 2014-10-30 06:47:00 Has the price been announced yet?

I'm leaning to the Note 4 unless the price is better.

1387110 2014-10-30 19:52:00 Not buying one at the price they'll be charging here . I would say at least $999 and we won't as usual have access to the Google Play store so we will get ripped off again.. paulw (1826)
1387111 2014-10-30 20:29:00 thought about it, but then they announced the size of it... no thanks. will wait for a mini one or get a Nexus 5 cheap :D autechre (266)

Considering how much Samsung is struggling (news.yahoo.com) I'd say it will be interesting to see how well the new Google Nexus goes.

In a lot of ways yeah, I'm genuinely surprised.

I went from the Nexus 5 to the Moto X (2013) to the OnePlus One.

The screen is big, but similar to the Moto X it doesn't "feel" huge after just a few minutes of getting used to it. The buttons are placed in smart places, not like the HTC phones where you've got the power on the top which is really dumb when you think about it. Speaking of the power button, double-tap on the screen (In a knocking manner) and it'll wake the phone. It's a real nifty feature I've grown to like a lot quicker than I thought I would.
The screen also protrudes marginally from the rest of the phone. It's a slightly odd but intriguing look. I kinda like it and it helps how nice the phone feels in the hand.

The camera absolutely blows away the Nexus 5 and the Moto X, by leaps and bounds I wouldn't have imagined possible from a phone made within months of each other (The OPO was released April 2014 I believe?). The software is super simple too with some really nice little features. 4K video actually looks gorgeous on my 4K monitor at home. Taking a nice video though and then taking a full-sized photo while videoing is a super cool feature!!
It meant that I could video my cousin on a toboggan and still take photos of it at the same time!

The speed is flawless, everywhere. Coming from the Moto X I would notice things like system / app updates in the background while I'm gaming bogging everything down. I come out of a short 30 minute gaming-marathon playing BombSquad only to find there was 9 updates that happened in the background and it didn't miss a beat.

Battery life... I play Ingress, and Ingress players are known for carrying around battery packs. Anything more than 30 minutes of Ingress a day and it'll be "hit n miss" on most phones to survive a whole day. I can play Ingress for 3 hours and still make it through to bedtime at 2AM no worries. Most of the time my phone is sitting around 40-45% when I plug it in to charge now! This is with WiFi on and Bluetooth to my Google Glass all day too.

The touchscreen is its downfall right now, there's a problem with an update that basically means it registers certain touches incorrectly. They've pushed out a fix to the "Nightlies" (New firmware whatever from Synaptics I believe?) but it's still not here yet. It's super frustrating but I know a fix is due any day now, so even though I've had to put up with this for a week, I know there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

But yeah aside from some of the little things like the knock to wake, the earpiece isn't indented or protruding, it's flush with the phone, so there's no gunk build up in it. The stereo speakers on the bottom put out some decent sound, though I'm not gonna lie the hole for the Micro USB cable is completely %@#$ and it'll "half" allow it in the wrong way so you think you've just got the cable in wrong and try and push it but it won't go in, only to realize "Oh yeah that's right, this is the worst part about the phone" and flip it around. The Micro USB cable they give you also feels "backwards", if you get one you'll understand.

That said, if the only problem I have is that the USB cable insertion I get around the wrong way sometimes, I can't really complain. For the super cheap price from PBTech, you can't really beat it!
Updates for 2 years they've said so it'll get Lollipop and whatever comes next too. How speedy, I'm not sure.
