| 1387661 | 2014-11-06 02:30:00 | I am formulating a theory that it is the combination of Yahoo and Outlook that causes the dissension. Either way, as has already been said, it's time for a change and change will happen forthwith and with forth! My philosophy: no annoyance is the best annoyance! I'm getting too long in the tooth to argue with dingbats on help desks whose grasp of English is about the equivalent of my cat. I don't blame them for their lack of English; it's just that they're in the wrong job. | Blue Druid (4480) | ||
| 1387662 | 2014-11-06 03:51:00 | It's a nasty world out there in IT:devilYou're telling me, and its even worse when dealing with Spark. :groan: SWMBO is in charge of the accounts for the branches in her office, she rang up spark because one of the Offices lost their internet. The responce she got from the trained monkey ( sorry to insult monkies), was that Sparks system doesn't support Netgear modems/Routers ---WTF, since when ? 6015 It's been working fine over the last couple of months since it was put in until the internet got disconneted by Spark (long story) Now spark have meant to have connected it back on again its not working :groan: Thats a load of BS, used netgear for ages, and put several in last couple of months all on spark with no problems. The ones I put in made the Telecom ones look stupid speed wise. Maybe the monkies need some new bananas Two Guesses what I'm doing tomorrow as a rush job ;) |

They will often be able to help depending on the problem and are in NZ. 2: If they can't - they can't see Chorus issues and such, for instance - get the Manila people to transfer you to NZ, you end up in Complex Faults (Tier 2) Simple......and they are very helpful. 15 mins and I had her issue sorted. |

Thanks for the above PCTek  Just an update -- Spark are bloody useless, we all know about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, but with Spark it appears they dont have any hands at all  SWMBO rang the Office concerned this morning to see if I was still needed to go in, Somehow by complete magic,:horrified even though the trained monkey at spark said it was all going and had been for the last day, CLAIMING the fault was at our end with a not supported Netgear Router , after she complained and told them they were hopeless, this morning it appears the magic "fixit men" from Spark went in over night and all of a sudden the internet is working this morning -- (no ones touched anything on site). BUT you have to remember it was all OK and the problem was not at Sparks end. :tui: Soooooooooo in keeping with this threads topic--- if your email is playing up and you are with Spark take it as 99% of the time the problem is NOT with your computer or settings, its Sparks absolutely rubbish servers, its their problem not yours. |

Sooooooooo - Spark doesn't have 'fixit men' who do onsite/exchange/DSLAM work. This is the work that Chorus do. So perhaps the person your SWMBO spoke to at Spark gave the scripted answer (obviously incorrect, so points off for that) and then handed the issue off to someone who knew what they were talking about (after your SWMBO had rung off). This 2nd or 3rd level support person spotted something that needed a tech visit and got Chorus to go and give something a kick. And lo and behold - issue resolved. And technically-speaking, this was more of an internet connectivity issue than an email one - they're not quite the same, although obviously if you don't have internet, you don't have email... :) |

| 1387667 | 2014-11-06 22:12:00 | I have a outlook.com account and it doesn't work. I can not send E-mails because it wants me to verify my account and the only option is to send a text which it refuses to do to either of my telecom numbers (home & work). I suppose I should contact them but that's so stupid and restrictive I just don't use it. My Gmail and Xtra E-mail accounts work fine. I guess I could delete all my aliases, create an new outlook account, and recreate them. Maybe one day. | dugimodo (138) | ||

The original answer she got was sure a Scripted answer, but shes clever enough to have said, its not a problem here, its your end. The one important question she asked was -- Why was it going perfectly fine for months till it got disconnected, now it has to be reconnected it wont, if the router wasn't supported why did it work previously ? -- Apparently at that point the Spark person started getting quite sh1tty :groan: They did offer to send someone around to check it out, but it was going to cost. Had the exact same thing happen with emails, that's why I put at the end of the last post "if your email is playing up and you are with Spark take it as 99% of the time the problem is NOT with your computer or settings, its Sparks absolutely rubbish servers, its their problem not yours." You call Spark -- "no nothings wrong", then as if by magic it all of a sudden works ;) nothing wrong eh ! |

That will bypass any SMS requirements.,. |
