1386599 2014-10-23 04:53:00 I had a similar problem with my man-shed 'beer, solvents, glue and paint' fridge, but it froze up completely, popping the caps off several bottles of beer and a few soft drinks to boot. Cost for a new thermostat was more than the fridge was worth, and discussion with my favourite and 100% honest appliance repair business indicated that it as most likely a gas leak anyway, as the thermostats are quite reliable. I ended up paying just $40 more than the price of a thermostat (not including installation) to buy an immaculate late-model equivalent off Trade Me and even got a few dollars for the remains from the local scrap metal dealer.

I had taken the thermostat out to take as a sample when buying a replacement so I opened it up to check the contacts and they were showing signs of wear but seemed to be working OK. I tried to get the contacts to open by putting the thermostat sensing tube into the bottom of Mrs T's deep freeze but the contacts never parted, then the Appliance chappie later told me that they don't open until something like -30C because the sensing point is usually much colder than the interior of a fridge.

Cheers

Mine died too.....eventually the water problem was not blockages and I gave up and bought a new fridge.

Got a Mitsubishi 260l fridge freezer for $584.
The coldness in this one is seriously noticeable, this one on warmest setting is colder than the old one on it's coldest setting....

This is true....

Well the drain was well and truly frozen. Unblocked it, will see what happens. I do think there is more wrong, but this is a great start. Thanks all!

Mate forget the fridge - this is your biggest problem. You haven't been married anywhere long enough to be in that position.
