1387405 2014-10-30 22:47:00 Webmail is OK, and email on my Android phone (G3) is OK, but I cannot access my email account via WIFI on
my desktop (Thunderbird), laptop, or Android. Internet connection is OK.

The Slingshot help line is jammed up. Problems started yesterday morning.
Their website shows nothing (there used to be a "Current Problems").

Anyone have info on this? Thanks.

1387406 2014-10-31 03:26:00 The Slingshot help line is jammed up . Problems started yesterday morning . That's usually a good sign that they are having problems .

No real point waiting on the phone for ages only to be told --"Yes we have a known fault, our technicians are working hard to rectify the problem . "

In other words, hurry up and wait .

They do have a notice on Twitter on the 28th saying they were doing some work and to reboot your modem if any problems .

As far back on the 28th.... well, that is interesting.

I just rang them and the same "we apologize for the long wait, etc." is there.
Sure wish they would put a notice on their website, but I guess that may turn away potential customers.

1387409 2014-10-31 20:02:00 The Slingshot Help line opened at 8 AM today. I rang at 8.02, waited in the queue for 5 minutes,
and spoke with Tech Help, a very nice Indian woman (in Auckland, not outsourced).

25 minutes of Q's and A's, testing at my end and Slingshot's, she finally had to admit that
it was Slingshot's fault, giving me a reference number and referring it to their Faults team.

Now the wait...

1387410 2014-11-01 01:11:00 For the curious PF1ers:

Slingshot sent me a text message telling me to ring their Help Desk.
I only had to wait several minutes.

Our Win7 laptop with Pegasus Mail managed to get new emails downloaded, and my Android phone, but not my desktop.
The friendly Tech person told me to change the port number but that did not work, and at this stage they did not know
what to do so I said "Let me try changing the Server Connection Security (Thunderbird) to SSL/TSL", and this :clap worked.

10 years as a PF1 member has put some tech knowledge into my brain so thanks to this forum - and the nice Slingshot
techie - I now have email back working. :D
