2006-03-14 03:26:00 | I dunno if I should ask this here, but I really need urgent aid!! OK I have 2 computers, both with wireless connection. The computers also have Yuri's Revenge installed recently, with both of them updated on Red Alert 2 before installing it. They are on Version 1.000. Now here comes the problem. The computers are connected together to the same network via ad hoc. However they can't see each other in the game's network lobby. Before that, only one of them can see the other, but now, not even one. I have reinstalled them altogether, but that didn't help. So does the problem lie on the connection, or something? (the coms can detect the other, but not in the game) Few months ago, there is no problem like this. So now it does, WHY?!

2006-03-14 03:35:00 | RA2 uses IPX/SPX rather than UDP doesn't it? I remember stuffing round with it for ages before I could get it to work. I Don't remember what the problem was. | Greven (91) | |

So do you know the solutions to it? I mean most people use LAN wiring to connect to each other, but i use ad hoc. Any answers? Thanks |

2006-03-14 03:54:00 | That was before I had a wireless network, so I don't know about getting it running over 802.11g. Can you install ipx/spx as a protocol on your wireless network card? I got rid of my copy of RA2 so I can't play round with it to try figure it out again sorry.

2006-03-14 04:42:00 | I think the problem was in the network settings in RA2 - from memory, you get a selection of addresses (in a form that I didn't understand) & you had to have both copies using the same one. IPX/SPX was before I seriously got into computers. perhaps one of the older members could be of more help. | Greven (91) | |
