437846 2006-03-13 18:41:00 Take the outline of say, NZ and convert it into a multitude of equal size squares or circles. Or any profile or image ? and do the same. Could be circles, fruit, cars, you know what I mean.

Have a look at this site, check out the NZ profile http://www.moneymanagers.co.nz/

Thanks John in Mosgiel.

437847 2006-03-13 19:05:00 I dont know an easy way but I would use photoshop.

On a seperate layer I would fill with a grid of small squares/fish/cars/whatever. Then go around manually and remove the unwanted small images.

437848 2006-03-15 12:47:00 I don't know of a program that would do that, but since those images are pixel based, you'd only have to group so many pixels together to form the shape and remove those that aren't needed.

There probably is a way to do this, when working with ASCII Art Convertors, which takes an image and outputs the image using Text only to form the picture, it must follow an algorithm of how the image is created to understand what Text to use and how to read the pixels of the images. This method would be similar to what you'd be looking for, except it were to output blocks instead.

Cheers,

KK.

437849 2006-03-15 19:26:00 What you're after is a programme that will creat slices. Photoshop does this easily, but possibly also The Gimp - a free Photoshop alternative.

[edit] not sure if it does anything but square or rectangular shapes. If you wanted different shapes you'd be looking at layers.

437850 2006-03-15 21:57:00 Don't know but I would take that graphic and modify it directly to what you want.

Actually as graphics go its pretty useless despite looking trendy. What if you want the wellington branch but don't know exactly where it is?

437851 2006-03-16 03:00:00 The Rasterbator can do it with circles, maybe squares, I haven't tried that:
