437748 2006-03-13 02:14:00 I could use a little info or help! I had ms works data base files from a windows xp computer on a floppy and was adding info on a windows 98 computer after I finished I went back with it to the XP machine but it could not access the data & when I went back to the 98 machine it would not access it either. Is the data permanently lost or what? I got an error about ms works exception c0000026h in module kernell32.dll bpete48 (9974)

Floppy disks would be the most unreliable form of data storage that exists (followed closely by CD-RW in packet writing mode).

Particularly when trying to update such thinds as databases, with a lot of read/write activity.

Hopefully you have a backup copy, else the data could be rather hard to recover, if not impossible.

437750 2006-03-13 03:45:00 You can do a check disk on a floppy:
Start ... Run ...
Command
chkdsk a: /F /R
exit

If "command" doesn't work, try "cmd" If the chkdsk complains, drop "/r"

Even if you could post a more detailed error message, the translation probably pretty clear: "if you don't have a back up, you're scr****."

By the way, USB drives also die with fair regularity, so going strictly digital doesn't reduce the need to backup.
