438061 2006-03-19 10:50:00 I am running Xtra 2mb and have noticed that too, (tested using Terrys link).

I tested the USA one and got 1366kbps down/72kbps up.
In theory it should be 2048kbps down/ 128kbps up (what the plan is(yes I know about the speed drops over distance))

438062 2006-03-19 23:28:00 You really have to test many sites all over the place to get an idea of what's happening.

Here's a nice speed test site I found from that previous link:

www.speakeasy.net

At 10.25am I'm getting 1913/108 to 1959/121 kbs, nothing wrong with that for a 2Mbps xtra connection :)

438063 2006-03-20 03:37:00 Hmmm, the speed seems to be back to normal on Ihug now.
Around 250 kbit/s from NZ Debian Mirrors.

438066 2006-03-20 05:01:00 The thing is as drcspy indicates, the Xtra jetstreamgames site will test more or less subject to 'overheads', the actual, maximum download speed you can expect, since the connection is short and very few nodes.

The overseas link I gave is more representative of the sort of speeds you'd get when going via the Southern Cross cable and others, through a number of nodes, the speeds will vary from test to test even on the same site with time as traffic etc varies.

438067 2006-03-20 05:19:00 I tend not to worry too much about it,life seems to go on irrespective. Cicero (40)
