| 438051 | 2006-03-14 09:24:00 | I've just downloaded mythtv from wherever they are, 3 files with an average speed of 50kb sec. Then i tried some debian file from debian nz site & got 240kb sec. I'm on a 2mb connection but have noticed over the last few weeks the download speed from overseas is getting worse & worse. I used to get 220 - 230kb sec on overseas. Does anyone else have this trouble ? |

Whos your ISP? How are you downloading the files? Are you using a download manger? I am on Xtra ( on a 2m plan) & all day today I have been downloading a 2GB website from a nz server (over on the north shore) & on some of the bigger files like 20mb or so I have been getting around 200+kb/s using FlashFXP as my FTP client. Hope this helps :) |

| 438053 | 2006-03-15 08:33:00 | Orcon. I'm just using the Firefox download manager. Sometimes I use Free Download Manager when downloading big files. Do you suspect Orcon? I've only been with them for a month or so, speeds were in the 200-230 for international when I first got connected with them. I get the same speeds with windows or suse, so it shouldn't be my end. |

| 438055 | 2006-03-15 09:15:00 | I realise that Jen, it's just getting worse by the day. I've just downloaded 3 files from overseas & got average 100kbs, about 1/2 what it should be. I didn't get this problem as far as i can remember with xtra. | Phil B (648) | ||
| 438056 | 2006-03-15 20:58:00 | We use xtra ADSL at work and at home and over the last few weeks it has been particularly sluggish when surfing. Others I have talked to have also been suffering slower speeds than normal. | fatcam (9001) | ||
| 438057 | 2006-03-16 03:06:00 | Same here on dialup, noticeably slower for 2 weeks now, clearnet ISP, also bad connections to American eMail sites. | zqwerty (97) | ||
| 438058 | 2006-03-16 05:14:00 | yep, it seems to be slower on Ihug 2 M plan. Used to get 250 kb/s easily but now it is more like 80 kb/s. Something has changed.......... |

Seems like you broadbanders are having as much trouble as us dial-ups fellas and felasas! A REAL encouragement to move over to broadband, seems like broadband is going as slow as dial-up at times, and ALL of the ISP are charging like wounded bulls too! LOL Yes, I wonder that something has changed too...., can we blame Telecom??? :badpc: |
