438644 2006-03-16 07:55:00 The title says it all, (maybe a little understatement  ) I can be using the net for a while and all of a sudden it keeps trying to load a page half way through and does not finish, to fix this I have been reseting the Telecom supplied DLink DSL-302G modem and this is getting old and yeah . . . want it fixed :annoyed:

Windows has just been reinstalled .

Oh and nothing works unless I enter the DNS server in manually on any PC :badpc:

Thanks

I should also add that I had my PC round at my friends place and connected to his sever and everything ran fine .

438648 2006-03-17 04:08:00 Hello Dave. Does that happen all the time? Perhaps it could be due to the heavy traffic load during the daytime? If I am not mistaken, there is an extension for Firefox that you can download to check your Internet connection speed.

Cheers :)

438649 2006-03-17 04:55:00 Hi James :)

It happens all the time, no matter the time.

Even other browsers.

No the connection speed is fine when it works, DLing at 220Kb/s and that is normal. It is like it just stops transfering.

438650 2006-03-17 08:38:00 Well, I can't think of any solution but to monitor what programs are using your bandwidth by checking your firewall. Or, could the problem be due to malwares? Have you done the usual check yet?

Cheers :)

438651 2006-03-17 08:45:00 I am monitoring the bandwidth and there is very little (no unauthorised sort of thing).

This is a fresh install of under a week, and it done this before the reinstall, plus it does it on other PCs, anything that uses this modem has problems :(

438652 2006-03-17 08:56:00 James - Malware is the plural of malware.

TEOR - I am assuming you have called your ISP? It sounds like something is wrong on their network... You have checked all your settings etc on the modem? And, by, "Nothing works unless I enter the DNS server in manually", do you mean the DHCP isn't working? That would more than likely indicate something wrong with the modem configuration.

Hope this helps

438653 2006-03-17 09:24:00 No not yet, should really get around to it :p

All settings are as they should be.

Yes! that is what my friend said but I couldn't remember what it was, he said the DHCP was up the....

Well noone has been into the settings and changed anything for a month or two (longer than the problem).

What settings do you think would cause this?
