| 438321 | 2006-03-15 15:01:00 | Hi all I'm new here. Last month I bought a new PC for my wife and I to use. We have our seperate login's on windows XP pro. I'd like to know how to access what I have viewed on line on this PC. The other day I clicked on a link posted on a forum I vist regularly , it led to a humorus video clip. Also on this page with the clip were other links that were of an adult nature. I decided to click on a couple of them and of course when my wife got on the PC she was able to see that I visited those sites , and that I viewed a few pictures of nude women. She actually was able to bring up a folder on the PC that had what appeard to be thumbnails of the pic's I viewed. I'd like to know how she did this so I can protect my privacy. I don't go snooping around in her business on the PC so I want to be able to stop her from snooping into mine. Thanks MS |

As for your question MS360.. In internet explorer, click on Tools >> Internet Options. In the general tab, there are 3 buttons (Delete Cookies, Delete Files, Settings). There is also another one lower down (Clear History). Clicking on settings will take you to the next screen which will have 2 further buttons (View Files, View Objects). Clicking on the View Files will bring up all those little thumbnails and other files from any sites you visit. |

Internet Options "General tab" (default) "History" and "Temporary Internet file" sections I was going to outline several ways of automatically clearing the history or even the page file every time you start Windows, but think about this: Assuming you're both using a single sign-on (typical in a home PC), if you clear the history, it's going to be obvious to your partner. I agree with Scouse. How do you plan to react when she confronts you with clearing your browsing history and / or temporary Internet files? Might I suggest a marriage counsellor is a good start since you both may have trust and "personal space" issues? |

Run... or obscure it in the start menu, such as changing the shortcut description and icon Two gotchas: 1)It would still show up under add/remove programs. 2) If she willing to check out your Internet history, what's to prevent a key logger being installed? |
