438273 2006-03-15 02:00:00 I have a website hosted on a company's server and I am wanting to transfer it to a DIFFERENT company's server, how does this work? Would the company have to Physically move the server from one hosting company to the other? I don't know much about the process. Can you explain to me the process of transferring to server from one hosting company to another hosting company? lance4k (4644)

Depending on the new company that you are using, they maybe able to help you to move your website, or they may do the whole switch for you, if you give them your full details with your current company. If it is just a simple website that you are moving, then your new company should be able to move it for you if you ask them.

438277 2006-03-15 21:03:00 If it's a html only website, it's usually very easy to transfer. Some Internet servers are file name case sensitive and others are not, so sometimes links will break.

More important, does your web site have any "active content", such as Frontpage extensions, DotNet, PHP, ASP, Perl, CGI, ...

This can include things like page counters, email processors, shopping carts, guest books, ...
