438610 2006-04-08 07:26:00 Xnet 2GB 2Mbps/128Kbps 37.95 64Kbps

That's the list for the 2GB Data caps. World-net seems to be the better one due to excess charges at 256Kbps but you can get 2Mbps cheaper with Xnet with choice of overages. I know it's comparing Apples to Oranges unless overage charges for Xnet were clear, so if you wanted to it's $10/5GB for Xnet but World-net seems to be the best for overage charges.

I'm on this plan and the overages are throttle back or $1 per 100MB or $5 per 5GB
I chose the throttle back

438611 2006-04-08 07:30:00 I've based my information off X-Net's website, so $10/5GB was what I found, though this may happen when the change over happens. I'm not sure if it's $5/5GB but if it is, then that's even better.

OK just an update about Quik,

It's business plan is definitely a con, I thought business were given Static IPs, but Also residential are given Static IPs at that normal price.

So how do they account for the business being charged more, I have no idea. They seem to be the ones I'm leaning towards due to price, it still comes out better than Orcon and they give you static IP, in which I guess I would have lost staying with Orcon, they haven't said anything about this yet.

Cheers,

438612 2006-04-08 07:35:00 Over the few days, what I'm going to be doing, is going through each website who's plans seem to be good, or near good and finding out what other information is required to make decisions.

Churn Fees, Static IP, Connection Fee, National Traffic, Webspace, etc.

And will have hopefully cleared up all confusions around this, when emails come back from support.

All my findings will be accessible when I put it up online.

Cheers,

KK

My mistake, they appear to have changed it. I wonder where I'd be now if I had taken the option a week ago when I took the plan and it was $5

The $5 for 5 was the price on the old plans. all the stuff relating to the new plans always said $10 for 5

No it wasn't. They didn't origionally offer overages at all. Then they said "we've been listening" and added them with the $5 deal.

438616 2006-04-09 02:39:00 I'm am very happy with IHUG after suffering on the Xtra 10G plan for 18 months.

I typically use 70-80G in a month. Swapped from the 40G+40G plan with Ihug to the 20G peak + 40G offpeak with Ihug to grap the extra d/l speed (and it is noticeably faster).

The ihug plans (with tolls - who cares who your tolls are with, really???) with the option of throttle back or paying for excess still 1000% better than xtrea.

60G d/l with no cost for uploads still is a great deal.

I'm not so fussed about pricing, more interested in speed and capacity, so now i basically have all i can eat for $99 at 3.5M and that half decent upload rate to help me play games online...

So go IHUG I say!!

438617 2006-04-09 04:11:00 Does anyone out there know of any other ADSL plans (OTHER THAN IHUG) that does not include the uploads as part of the data traffic?

Thks! Been researching for the best plan - so far Xnet seems to be the most reasonable for 10GB. If anyone knows of any other pls let me know.

Nope - Ihug is the only one that doesn't charge for uploads. There are a couple like Xnet that don't charge for traffic that goes through their peering links

It looks like Ihug is the best for heavy users by a long shot.

Webworld 10GB 3.5Mbps/512Kbps 99.95 10c/MB

The 1Mbps plans, is not worth looking at with this data cap, is not worth looking at (emphasis).

The 256Kbps plans, well, looks good but you can get faster for relatively the same price with the same cap, so nothing really standing out.

For 2Mbps/128Kbps you can't go wrong with Xnet, priced better than the rest, and you have the option of choosing how your overages can be handled.

I think the rest of the list explains themselves, Maxnet doing ok with the 3.5Mbps/128Kbps but only has overage charges of $10/5GB, still better than Orcons.

In the 3.5Mbps/512Kbps, what stands out as something that maybe worth looking into is Slingshot, the others with their overage charges makes 95c difference not much of a saving at all.
