2006-03-15 13:15:00 | Whats this i hear about toothpaste being used as a cd cleaner? I have a game that wont install and the problem may be the disk. its not overly dirty but it could do with a clean i suppose. So how exactly do i go about cleaning it?

2006-03-15 19:25:00 | The recommended method is to use a soft lint-free cloth, with no chemicals or moisture, and wipe the surface with movements from the inside to the outside. Give a bit of breath on the surface if needed as you would if cleaning spectacles. | Greg (193) | |
2006-03-15 19:42:00 | I put them in the kitchen sink with a little detergent and warm water and dry them with the tea towel. Believe it or not this works and I have never had a single failure. I have been doing this for about 14 years.

2006-03-15 20:33:00 | JJJJ's method is the best one, toothpaste is usful where the CD has minor scratches that need polishing out. Its not needed just for "cleaning" the CD. | godfather (25) | |

Just make sure you don't wash them with forks or other scratchy items in the sink or the CD will soon be forked. If the CD has a few scratches on it that could affect its playability and according to others on this forum some video shops are able to polish them up like new again for a small fee. |

2006-03-16 16:21:00 | The detergent method sounds so bad! lol I dont think the game will work after it has been cleaned but ive tried everything else so i might aswell give it a shot. I used my t-shirt to wipe it clean from inside to outside but to no prevail. To my absolute astonishment i just added the bit of breath as you would to spectacles and it worked!! Thanks for the help guys, much appriciated!
