438278 2006-03-15 07:11:00 I just know there is an easy answer, as I had the problem before and didn't write the F1 answer down. Stupid me. I have no sound from my fancy new Toshiba lap top. I have tried all the usual things on the Control Panel - Sounds and Audio devices, but nothing works.

There is something simple I am missing. What is it - oh please, what is it:(

I would just like to add a Sony active speaker system so that I can play music while overseas; it works a charm on my old IBM. But even without that, there is no sound at all.

Help!

438280 2006-03-15 18:53:00 No, that was a computer and analog video camera. This is a Toshiba laptop Siobhan (6842)
438281 2006-03-15 20:32:00 look for the volume control dial on the side or front of the laptop, or it maybe one of the Fn keys - read the manual quarry (252)
438282 2006-03-15 20:35:00 If we knew what model the laptop was, it would help.

I have searched the Toshiba site, but can find no such model as "fancy new"....

New Satellite models have a rotary volume wheel on the front at right.

no sound AT ALL? Or just not music or no boings from the operating system.

no sound at all might be resolved in the control panel settings.

438284 2006-03-16 00:44:00 If it's one of the multimedia type laptops, with buttons to play CDs without the computer on, it might have a mute button. ;) Graham L (2)
438285 2006-03-16 02:33:00 Sorry - it's fancy and new to me compared to my old clunker:)
A Toshiba Tecra A3/S2 series.
